Exit Interview

May 4, 2009

This morning I had my exit interview. This is a portfolio review done by all of the senior professors and a few extra judges. Waiting for everything to get started was nerve racking, but I got started talking I did just fine. I got some really good feedback. Overall, the judges were impressed with the amount and quality of work that was presented. And I have to say I am so glad that it is OVER and I can’t wait to start my internship over the summer.

(For those of you who don’t know I am taking an internship with Shamlian Advertising, located in Media, PA. You can see some of their work here

It’s finished!!!

Phobophobia is complete!

After four months worth of hard work everything is coming to an end. Everything is glued, cut, stitched and built. I can tell you that I am so happy and satisfied with the results. Here’s a look:

Here are some different shots of the different parts of the game and the board set-up for play!

Here’s a peak at what I did in the class we have fondly entitled “Map Class”:

A poster on the bones of the Hand.

Not Capstone…

March 29, 2009

These are some of the other projects that I have been working on this semester. This weekend my professor told us not to work on our final projects at all since DesignExpo is this week and we have to put together our portfolios. (This costs a fortune by the way.) So here it goes:

Poster designed to draw attention to the large amount of cuts on school funding

Poster designed to draw attention to the large amount of cuts on school funding

I screenprinted this poster in a smaller version without the smaller text last semester. Now I get to use it in my portfolio.

Postcard advertisement for The old Academy Players

Postcard advertisement for The old Academy Players

This is part of a series of postcards for The Old Academy Players. Here is the synopsis of the play: The battling brothers Coleman and Valene are always at each other’s throats. Come watch as long-suffering Father Welsh, the local young priest, tries to reconcile the two before their petty squabbling spirals into something murderous. I am also designing the cards for the plays “Can’t Take it with You” and “The Countess” that will have this same style to them

Directions PosterThis is a poster that I designed over a year ago. It is called the “Directions Poster” because it gives directions from California to PhilaU. The focus however of the poster is NO because of all the things you cannot take on a plane. Inside the counterform of the “O”  are all of the restricted items from the FAA. Inside the letterform of the “N” are my directions. Here they are so you can actually read them “ready for a long day take School Lane till Ridge and get on 76 Follow signs to Philadelphia International Airport check in pray bags are under fifty pounds get in line for security hmm they want to search you bags damn they took my fruit cup find gate call mom text anyone who will answer until boarding time board plane could really use that aersol fragrance sitting next to the smelly guy listen to safety precautions take off  land get up so the people next to me can get on and off take off yet again nap time, jerked out of dreams by turbulence I wanted to see what those guys did with the cattle prods bathroom, have I mentioned I am claustrophobic? a crowbar would have helped to open the door back to the seat needed to use some bleach when the kid in front of me through his grape juice in the air entertain self for countless more hours music, reading, finally talking to the dreaded neighbor, who has been trying to make conversation since he got on landing get off the plane get suitcase and go find the car to bad I couldn’t bring mom her snow globe christmas present exit parking garage and follow signs to the freeway get off at Bascom Ave exit and make left take a right onto Forest Ave and come to the hospital I was born at make a left onto DiSalvo Ave park at the first house on the right get the suitcases, and cross the grass open the door and should have celebrate actually getting home with fireworks.”

Design MattersThis is a poster that focuses on why Design Matters. I choose to focus on why Design Matters in the fashion industry. The height of a high heel has changed very much since its invention and by today’s standards a shoe is only considered a high heel if it has a heel over 3.5 inches tall. (And this is my all time favorite pair of heels!)

The Package

Sorry, the coloring is a little off on this photo. I am trying to get better with my packaging photography skills. This past week I did a lot of work and actually built the package as you see above and the spinner for the game. I also made some of each typeof card for the game. Here are pictures of that…
